Google Maps - PHP interface to our database

Refining our maps.php module that takes 200 data points from a Filemaker database and plots them on Google maps. Right now the PHP is bloated and takes over 30 seconds to run. Would like to enhance with custom icons and clustering.

I'm looking at the Javascript that populates the map

... and it looks like it can be made faster. I'll post more in a bit.
